Nourishment is more than just what you eat. Nourishment is about your mind, body and spirit. I'm going to share with you some secret tips on ways to think about nourishing your body, mind and spirit…
Why am I using the word “nourishment” if I’m not talking about food?
That’s a great question!
I'm using the word nourishment, because you may find that you are so over-focused on food that you forget about the other ways to nourish yourself without it.
What does this mean? It means you forget:
how calming and rejuvenating a walk on the beach or out in nature can be
that lying in your bed, reading or listening to your favorite music with a cool breeze can be so relaxing
how the feeling of walking on grass (which is hard to find here in Arizona) can feel grounding
You "eat" all day long with your senses. You "consume" your environment through touch, feel, taste, sound and sight.
Here are 5 simple ways you can nourish your senses and you can start them today:
Environment: Your environment affects your mood and energy. If you are stuck in an office all day staring at a wall, make sure you take a break and go outside in nature. If you have a lot of clutter in your house, this can make you anxious. Spend some time decluttering your environment and notice how much more peaceful you feel in that space.
Sleep: Sleep to rejuvenate your body and restore your entire system so you function better. If you are chronically not getting enough sleep it will have a negative impact on your body and your health and well-being.
Relationships: Look for relationships with friends and lovers that make you feel good about yourself. Let go of your relationships with people who drain your energy or are not supportive or uplifting.
Be Social: If you spend a lot of time alone at your computer or in an office or even at home, it’s really important for your spirit to connect with others. Call your friends or join a club or Meetup group and make new friends!
Movement: Movement gets your endorphins going, which will uplift your mood and give you energy. It keeps your oxygen circulating through your system so you feel excited and refreshed. It can also be very calming to your system. It's a great way to de-stress.
